Aperture??

Okay I have a love for photography. I love looking at pictures and love to pretent to take pictures but I don't know how to take pictures worth a darn. I decided to learn more about my camera so I can kind of learn what photography en tales and find out what exactly my camera can do... Who doesn't love photography anyways? I think everyone loves taking pictures and looking at pictures right? I just want to understand the basics, so while reading my owners manual it has terms like aperture, iso... what the heck? from then I searched the Internet- Photography for dummies.... I learned about aperture and how to focus on one thing with the background being blurry. Okay cool! So, outside I went trying to take pictures this way.... yeah right. I couldn't figure it out. My aperture settings range from 3.5 to 8. Setting it on 3.5 didn't make anything blurry in the background except my tomato plant. Allison I need you help :)... I guess this just takes lots and lots of practice. Does the object you are taking a picture of need to be so far from the background? I wonder what I am doing wrong. I took pictures of everything in my yard and only two picture semi worked. When my kids wake up from their nap we are going outside to practice on them. If anyone has any tips and helpful hints you are more than welcome to help me anytime.

Lets cook!

So I bought this book today and I am so excited about it! Thanks to my sister in law Meghan... (she told me about her and her friend cooking and freezing meals for later and how helpful it was.) So I searched cooking and freezing and I found this book. Its amazing... it has recipes that are easy, no weird ingredients and the author is from Utah (So the recipes have to be the best, lol). There is software that helps you pick your recipes and helps you make a shopping list. It gives so many tips on how to make cooking fast and easy and you can make 30 meals in one day to put in your freezer. How nice would that be not to have to cook every night and to have a dinner ready without a messy kitchen and everyone is happy. How many of us eat fast food because we are too busy to cook. I work full time and its impossible to cook on the days that I work. I am a procrastinator too.... about 4pm I start thinking about what to fix for dinner... yikes! So.... who wants to take a day and cook a bunch of meals in one day? Just think how much time will be saved! You can spend more time with your family on the days that you don't have to shop and cook. I'm in!! I am anxious to get started!
